Woman Dies After two-vehicle Collision in Markham
A woman has died following a collision Wednesday evening at Normandale Rd. and 16th Ave. in Markham, York Regional Police said.
Police received a call at 7:27 p.m. about a two-vehicle collision in the intersection, said Inspector Kelvin Chantiam. They attended the scene to find two people injured.
One, a woman in her late 60s, was suffering from life-threatening injuries and later succumbed to her injuries in hospital, Chantiam said. Another victim, who was in the other car, had minor injuries.
York’s Major Collision Investigation Unit is currently on scene to determine how the accident occurred.
As of 11:30 p.m., 16th Ave. was closed from Kennedy Rd. to Village Parkway pending the end of the investigation. It should reopen within about two hours, according to Chantiam.
York Regional Police are requesting that any witnesses or persons with information please come forward.
