One of Twin Boys Struck by Van Last Saturday in Downsview Dies in Hospital
One of the nine-year-old twin boys struck by a van last Saturday in Downsview has died in hospital.
The children were originally rushed to Humber River Hospital on the morning of Mar. 4, one with serious injuries, the other in life-threatening condition.
The brothers were crossing Sheppard Ave. W. at Magellan Dr. at 10:15 a.m. when they were hit by a minivan travelling east on Sheppard Ave.
Const. Clint Stibbe said, last week, that the boys weren’t supervised, but they were using a proper crosswalk. The driver of the minivan that hit them and a number of witnesses remained at the scene.
The boy in life-threatening condition was later taken to the Hospital for Sick Children, where he succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday, Stibbe said.
The driver was identified as a 20-year-old woman in a 1998 Toyota Sienna.
So far, no charges have been laid in the case. The investigation continues.
