Owners of trendy Toronto clothing store try Oshawa on for size
OSHAWA — When the owners of an on-trend women’s clothing store in Toronto’s Kensington Market decided to open a second location, it was Oshawa that ended up being the right fit.
“A lot of people gave us feedback that Oshawa would be a great place to open,†says Arcadius Malik, who co-owns Pink Canary with his friend Laura North.

The new Oshawa Centre store has been open for about two months.
“We don’t buy online unless we already know the supplier … we want to see the product, see the quality,†Malik explains. “In today’s day and age, that’s something a bit different.â€
They also bring along fit models, to ensure the clothes fit different body types.
Because the Oshawa store is bigger than the Toronto one, it offers a sample sale section.
Malik says Pink Canary’s philosophy is about encouraging people to broaden the wardrobe they have, not replace it.
“We’ll introduce you to a jumper and some other fun things that you can wear with what you already have,†he says. “Maybe something a little bit outside your comfort zone.â€
You can find Pink Canary at the Oshawa Centre or at 280 Augusta Ave. in Toronto.
