Twin Boy Critically Injured in North York Crash Dies of his Injuries

A boy critically injured in a North York crash along with his twin brother last weekend has died of his injuries, Toronto police say.

The boy was attempting to cross Sheppard Avenue West, at Magellan Drive, with his brother on Saturday at about 10:12 a.m. when they were hit by a minivan, a 1998 Toyota Sienna.

Police said the boys, who were crossing the street by themselves in the direction of a nearby library, are nine years old but turning 10 this month. According to police, they were in the crosswalk at the time they were hit.

The minivan's driver, a woman, 20, was travelling eastbound on Sheppard Avenue West, nearing Magellan, when the collision occurred.

Both boys were taken to hospital. The one who suffered life-threatening injuries was pronounced dead in hospital on Wednesday. The other suffered serious injuries that were non-life threatening.
