United States President Donald Trump has instructed his administration to suspend funding to the World Health Organization over the agency芒鈧劉s handling of the coronavirus pandemic.

芒鈧揟oday I芒鈧劉m instructing my administration to halt funding of the World Health Organization while a review is conducted to assess the World Health Organization芒鈧劉s role in severely mismanaging and covering up the spread of the coronavirus,芒鈧� he said.

芒鈧揈verybody knows what芒鈧劉s going on there.芒鈧�

Trump said the government review of the agency will take somewhere between 芒鈧�60 to 90 days.芒鈧�

The U.S. president claimed the WHO failed to disclose or respond to what he called 芒鈧揷redible芒鈧� information in December that suggested the virus could be spread through human-to-human transmission.

芒鈧揑t would have been so easy to be truthful,芒鈧� he said of the WHO.

Trump blamed the WHO for 芒鈧揳ll sorts of false information about transmission and mortality芒鈧� that was circulated amid initial reports.

But in February, he called COVID-19 a 芒鈧搉ew hoax芒鈧� during a rally in Charleston, South Carolina.

芒鈧揙ne of my people came up to me and said, 芒鈧淢r. President, they tried to beat you on Russia, Russia, Russia.芒鈧劉 That did not work out too well.芒鈧� Trump said.

芒鈧揟hey could not do it. They tried the impeachment hoax. 芒鈧� They tried anything. 芒鈧� And this is their new hoax.芒鈧�

According to Trump, American taxpayers pay between US$400 million and US$500 million dollars per year to the WHO.

In contrast, he claimed China contributes roughly US$40 million dollars per year.

芒鈧揂s the organization芒鈧劉s leading sponsor, the United States has a duty to insist on full accountability. One of the most dangerous and costly decisions from the WHO was its disastrous decision to oppose travel restrictions from China and other nations,芒鈧� Trump added.

He also criticized the WHO for praising China芒鈧劉s transparency and lauding the country芒鈧劉s efforts at containing the virus, despite also praising China for 芒鈧搘orking very hard to contain the Coronavirus芒鈧� on Twitter in January.
