New Delhi: Sidewalk Labs which is a company under Google's parent Alphabet, wants to create a smart city of the future called Quayside in Toronto Canada. The company uses new technology to address big urban challenges and improve the quality of life in cities. Sidewalk Toronto is a joint effort by Waterfront Toronto and Sidewalk Labs to create a new kind of mixed-use, a complete community on Toronto’s Eastern Waterfront.
It may be noted that the Government of Canada established Waterfront Toronto in 2001 to lead the renewal of the city’s waterfront in becoming a world-class example of post-industrial innovative urban development. Sidewalk Toronto project aims to combine forward-thinking urban design and new digital technology to create neighbourhoods that achieve high levels of sustainability, affordability, mobility, and economic opportunity.
