A man in his 20s was rushed to hospital in critical condition after being shot several times in the torso in Toronto's west end Wednesday night.

Several people called 911 to report hearing numerous gunshots shortly after 9 p.m., Toronto police Const. Craig Brister said. 

Investigators are sweeping the area around Dundas Street West just south of Bloor Street West where the victim was found.

The victim wasn't able to provide a description of his attacker or attackers before paramedics took him to a trauma centre, Brister said. 

No arrests have yet been made.
