Pearson Airport Raccoon Back in His Natural Habitat

A raccoon that charmed countless travellers at Pearson International Airport on Friday has been captured and safely released.

After videos of the raccoon peering out of the airport ceiling went viral, the airport tweeted on Sunday that “despite his intentions of travelling abroad, our friend the raccoon has decided Toronto has all the culture he needs” and confirmed that the raccoon was headed back outdoors.

Their final tweet on the subject said that the raccoon wanted to thank everyone for “the celebrity treatment,” a sentiment that was shared on the critter’s own twitter account.

The internet never fails to deliver; yes, a twitter called "Pearson Raccoon" (@yyzraccoon) popped up on Saturday to provide some insider input on the situation.

He insisted he just wanted to take a flight.

And he even provided a passport photo to prove the seriousness of his jet-setting aspirations.

But although he initially tweeted his desire to hide from the officials searching for him, Pearson Raccoon signed off cheerfully on Saturday.
