Police Looking for three Men in Connection with Kijiji Robbery Investigation

Toronto police are looking for three men wanted for two robberies that occurred within two hours in the city’s west end in March.

The victims met the suspects at separate residential buildings.

On March 6, at 8:20 p.m. police responded to a robbery in the Fort York Blvd and Bathurst St. area where a man was allegedly robbed of his belongings in a condo.

Police say a 22-year-old man responded to a Kijiji ad to purchase a laptop. He was told to meet the seller outside a building where he was met by a man and welcomed inside the building.

Another man pushed the 22-year-old into a secluded area and robbed him of his belongings. Police say a knife was produced during the robbery.

At 9:45 p.m. the same day, police responded to a call for another robbery in the Lake Shore Blvd W. and Mimico Ave. area. A 39-year-old man was also robbed after he responded to a Kijiji ad to purchase a laptop.

The man was told to meet the seller outside a building. A man arrived and escorted the potential buyer into a nearby condo. Another man wielding a knife struck the 39-year-old man from behind.

The two suspects had guns and led the 22-year-old to a stairwell where they robbed him of his belongings, police say.

Police have identified Tristan Cain, 24, of Ajax as one of the suspects for both incidents. Police describe Cain as being between 6’0”-6’2”, weighing 170-200 lbs., with a medium build, brown eyes, short black hair, and a black goatee.

Cain is wanted for five charges including robbery with an offensive weapon, forcible confinement and assault to cause bodily harm.

Daniel Ofori, 24, of Binbrook is identified as a suspect in the second incident. He is wanted for robbery with a firearm, pointing a firearm, and assault to cause bodily harm.

Police describe him as 5’9”, 160 lbs., with a thin build, short black curly hair, and clean-shaven.

The third suspect has not been identified. Police describe him as a black man, believed to be between 20 and 30 years old, 5’9”, medium build, with short black hair and clean-shaven.

Police seek the public’s assistance in finding the men. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 416-808-1400 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477).

To help deter incidents like this, Peel Regional Police introduced a safe zone to make online classified ad transactions safer in November.

Residents can meet buyers or sellers, without the worry of being robbed.

Peel police is calling it, a Buy and Sell Exchange Zone, a space in a police station parking lot equipped with surveillance cameras.
