Save Money on Energy Bills with new Ontario Program
(NC) A new incentive program is making it easier for you to pocket big savings on your energy bill. The Home Energy Conservation Incentive Program from Enbridge Gas Distribution and Union Gas, in partnership with the Province of Ontario, is now available to all Ontarians who heat their home with natural gas, propane, oil or wood.
Funded through a $100 million investment from Ontario's Green Investment Fund, this program makes it easy and affordable for you to improve the energy efficiency of your home, lower your energy bills, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. GIF is expected to save approximately 1.6M tons of greenhouse gas emissions.
During home energy audits, certified energy auditors recommend ways to improve efficiency by installing retrofits — like replacing furnaces and water heaters — and upgrading insulation to qualify for valuable incentives. Take advantage of thousands of dollars in incentives by learning what programs are available in your area, which you can do at www.ohecip.ca.
Then, arrange for an energy auditor to come to your home to conduct a pre-audit. You'll be given an energy score and an energy report that will outline any efficiency measures that can be implemented in your home.
Once you decide on which energy efficiency retrofits you want to install and have them completed, your auditor will return for a post-audit to access your energy savings and to determine your eligibility for specific incentives.
